NOTE FROM OWNERS : When we built the house at 35 Windy Ridge in 2007 we planned it to be as healthy to live in as possible. All the carpeting in the house is 100% wool. Woolen carpet is the safest, most natural carpeting to buy. It has very little offgassing and is much more expensive than regular carpet. The non-carpeted areas are also very safe. Wood and cork flooring in the kitchen and halls. Tile in the bathrooms. All the walls have been painted with a No VOC paint from Columbia paint. VOC's in regular paint are known carcinogens. So nothing toxic there. The air in the house is filtered with a Perfect 16 IQ Air system. http://www.iqair.com/home-air-purifiers/wholehouseairpurifiers/perfect16. This makes the air hospital clean. The well produces lots of water and does not run out. It has a little clay in it so we filter the water coming into the house, as well as using a Re-Ionator system. Then the water for drinking is further purified by a reverse osmosis filtering system with taps at both of the kitchen sinks. There are two hot water tanks with recirculating hot water, so that there is instant hot water anywhere in the house. There is garden space out the back door – with good soil that is half compost. All plants and trees are connected to automatic watering systems. No chemical sprays or artificial fertilizers have been used on the property. Everything is organic. With the nine solar panels it is possible to live for a long time during a power outage. Most everything, except the heating, can be run with the solar batteries. When the generator is hooked up everything, including all the heating and stoves, can be run. There is also a Quadra-Fire wood fireplace that can be used for heating. We never used it as it was put in for emergencies. There are telephone and TV and internet hookups throughout the house and high speed internet is available from CenturyLink. And yes, it does have a spectacular view!
